Nowadays, the use of a candle is no longer limited to lighting a room. It can now be used to make your home more pleasant and welcoming. This is our scented candle. There are several steps in its manufacture. But before you start designing, you need to have certain materials at your disposal. It is also important to know the ingredients needed to make the product. Let’s discover the different steps to follow.
The materials used in the design of our 100% handmade scented candle
Handmade candles require the use of certain materials and tools. We can cite among others :
- Our containers, large pots, also used in the kitchen J
- vegetable wax
- Handmade containers by our craftsmen
- Certified cotton wicks
The materials used will depend in large part on the desired result. Côté Bougie manufactures these products by hand to offer unique and original collections. It is also for us the best way to promote the craft industry
What is the composition of our scented candles?
Our team takes great care in selecting the raw materials for our candles. We take care to choose the right vegetable wax, the best fragrance, the best wick and a beautiful container to hold the candle. Not to mention that the sorting of these ingredients follows an eco-responsible approach due to our sensitivity to environmental issues.
Step 1 : wax preparation
It is important to note that wax is the main component of a candle. It is therefore normal to deal with this element first. The first thing to do is to melt it. To do this, simply place the wax in a suitable container and heat it until it takes on a liquid form. In addition, we prefer vegetable waxes, always with the aim of having a positive impact on the environment.
Step 2: Mixing the scents
The second step is to add our Grasse fragrances to the melted wax. A few drops are enough to make the candle fragrant. However, it all depends on the intensity of the scent desired. As for the choice of atmosphere, many possibilities can be exploited. In our case, we generally offer new fragrances through our floral, oriental and gourmet aromas. For example, you can opt for Mint & Tea, Date, Orange Blossom or Pink Fig.
Step 3: Designing the candle
At Côté Bougie, we offer a variety of original ways of presenting the candle. A variety of products are available in our sales outlets and in our online shop: collections in raffia, ceramic, pot or metal. Each creation offers a unique design that not only beautifies your home but also contributes to a pleasant atmosphere. In addition, the container can also take several forms, such as the cloche, the spinning top or the sabra maillechort collection.
Step 4: Putting the wick in place
The wick must be straight for optimum use of the candle. It is therefore important to keep the wick in the container while pouring the wax. Côté Bougie uses lead-free cotton wicks from Italy for efficient wax combustion. It should also be noted that they are specially hand-woven by our Moroccan craftsmen.
Step 5: The finishing and use phase
After placing the wick vertically in the container, the scented wax should be poured in. The wax must then be allowed to cool so that it can harden. After 2 to 4 hours, the candle is ready and you can light it to diffuse pleasant scents in your home. However, it is important to follow a few tips on how to use the candle in order to fully enjoy its effects.
Some tips on how to use your scented candle
The first thing to do is to check the position of the wick. The wick should be vertical enough for the wax to burn evenly. Also, don’t forget to cut the wick after each use so that it does not exceed the size of the candle. Furthermore, if you are expecting a visitor, it is preferable to light the candle an hour beforehand to give the fragrance time to diffuse throughout the room.
